The pentagon-shaped black opal measuring approximately 20.3 by 16.7 mm., the pear-shaped black opal measuring approximately 19.5 by 15.2 mm., old European-cut, single-cut and rose-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.40 carats, mounted in platinum, maker's mark, French assay mark, two diamonds missing.  With fitted box signed Hunt & Roskell Ltd.

Condition

Several areas of repair to the mounting; 2 small rose-cut diamonds missing near the top of the pendant. The opal tablets remain in good condition with only minute crazing seen under magnification and very minor pitting. The opals are opaque and display strong, full-spectrum play-of-color of the "harlequin" type. Blues and green predominate in the top opal with oranges and reds predominating in the pendant. The old European-cut diamonds are approximately G-I color, VS-SI clarity; the single- and rose-cut diamonds are approximately near colorless and decorative in quality. Maker's mark found on the brooch fitting near the base of the pinstem. Brooch fitting mounted in 18 karat white gold. Accompanied by an associated Hunt & Roskell fitted box.
