Description
- diamond, enamel, moonstone, pearl, tortoise shell and gold
Old mine diamonds weighing approximately 1.20 carats, the pearl measuring approximately 13.9 by 12.8 mm., mounted in gold, signed C& AG, brooch pin detachable, together with a tortoise shell hair comb fitting. With signed and fitted box.
Condition
Set with 20 old European-cut diamonds, which are of decorative quality. Some damage and loss to enamel in several places throughout the piece, mostly on the white and black enamel; the blue enamel is intact. Pearl has not been tested for natural origin, but exhibits a mocha shade with strong overtones of pink, green, blue and lavender, some wrinkling and color variation in the skin, as well as a moderate amount of blemishing. In reasonably good condition considering age. Please note that the printed catalogue illustration represents the piece as a brooch; when worn as a hair ornament, the pearl would rest at top.
