Description

Composed of alternating sugarloaf cabochon and rectangular segments of coral, set with small rose-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum, length 7 inches, signed Cartier, numbered 25628.

Condition

The rose cut diamonds are of decorative quality and weigh approximately .50 cts. The coral has a somewhat satin or matte finish, not highly polished, due in part from abrasions and nicks to the coral, but also much of the sealant or shellac has worn off the coral segments. Additionally numbered 3457 on male side of clasp with platinum assay mark and weight mark for the Netherlands. See World Hallmarks, Vol. I, pp. 183 and 189 for illustrations and descriptions of marks. Gross weight approximately 14.8 dwts. In good condition overall. Please note that four of the coral links have been repaired by Sotheby's.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
