Description

  • Ruby, diamond and platinum
The oval cabochon star ruby weighing 34.45 carats, framed by round and baguette diamonds weighing approximately 14.00 carats, and round diamonds of yellow hue weighing approximately 5.00 carats, mounted in platinum, size 7, illustrated unmounted.

Condition

Accompanied by AGL report no. CS 41007 stating that the star ruby is of Burmese origin, heat enhancement: none. The AGL also states in the comment section that the strength of the star is Prominent to Strong and the Quality of the Star is Excellent. The mounting, which is not pictured in the catalogue is domed and designed to surround the star ruby with a row of 18 round diamonds approximately G-H color and VS clarity, surrounded by a row of 35 baguette-cut diamonds of similar quality, which is then surrounded by a wavy row of round yellow diamonds of fancy to intense yellow to brownish yellow color (diamonds have not been tested for natural origin of color). The gallery of the ring is also set with 50 round diamonds approximately G-I color and VS clarity. One prong is missing from mounting, otherwise the piece is in good condition. The mounting is very large and extends from knuckle to knuckle on the finger. Measures approximately 1 1/2 x 1 3/8 inches.
