Description

  • Plaque approximately 61.90 x 41.66 x 10.18 mm, tourmaline bead approximately 8.90 mm.
The semi-translucent tri-coloured plaque suffused with celadon, rich honey and intense emerald green colour, carved with a mythical creature to the front and the reverse, supported by carved lingzhi ruyi heads, pine trees and coins, signifying longevity and prosperity, strung on a brown cord accented with a pink tourmaline bead, length approximately 200 mm

Condition

Colour and Clarity: In our opinion, the carved jadeite pendant is semi-translucent and has an interesting colour combination of very rich honey yellow, deep emerald green and celadon. Upon close look, the carving appears slightly mottled, particularly to the green section. The tourmaline bead is of medium, strong purple pink colour, slightly included to naked eyes. Condition: Nice craftsmanship shows a clever use of using the natural colours from the jadeite boulder in the carving. Overall in very good condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
