Description

Centring on an oval pink sapphire weighing 12.77 carats, encircled by pear-shaped diamonds together weighing approximately 3.50 carats, mounted in platinum, ring guard fitting.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to the Gübelin report, the pink sapphire is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the pink sapphire is of medium, purple-pink colour, eye clean. Under 10x loupe, there are some fine silks close to the crown and a few tiny colourless crystals close to pavilion on side. Diamonds are probably of H to I colours, VS clarity. Condition: Elegant, classic ring mount, in very good condition, almost as new.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Ring size: 4 1/2

Accompanied by Gübelin report numbered 0708511, dated 4 September 2007, stating that the 12.77 carat pink sapphire is natural, of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating, sapphires which have not been heated are scarce.
