Description

Each suspending a pear-shaped spinel altogether weighing approximately 31.61 carats, surmounted by an old mine-cut diamond altogether weighing approximately 8.65 carats, mounted in 18 karat yellow gold, clip and post fittings.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to GRS report, the two pear-shaped brownish-pink spinels are natural, with no indication of treatment. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, these two spinels show a well-matched, charming 'cognac' pink colour, very clean to naked eyes with good brilliance. One spinel shows tiny pit and two fissure lines close to the top under 10x loupe with careful check, but not seen to naked eyes. The two old-mine cut diamonds are of light yellow colour (N to O), one of VVS2 to VS1 clarity and the other of VS2 showing a small dark crystal to the side. Both are very lively. Condition: Pair of charming earrings, overall in excellent condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by GRS report numbered GRS2009-011504, dated 17 January 2009, stating that the two spinels are natural, brownish-pink colour, with no indication of treatments.
