This painting has been mounted and there are slightly uneven areas around the edges on the right and left side particularly however, most of this mounting and the subsequent reexamination of some of the paint layer along the edges, is all original. There is this element of added canvas along the right edge and the mounting, but it seems more than likely that the artist himself was involved, since the picture does not appear to have ever been cleaned or restored. Neither would we suggest that any restoration need to be done. The paint layer is slightly dirty and there is no varnish, which is appropriate. A new frame could be beneficial but overall the picture is in very good condition. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.)
