Condition

Table: There are several losses and scuffs to the silver gilt. Two of the hands move to accommodate the glass table top. There are a few hairline cracks to the feet where they meet the legs of the table. This work appears to be in stable condition. Chair: There are losses and scuffs throughout the work especially along the bottom. There are several areas on the base where the top layer of the silver gilding appears to have come off. There are cracks in the hand where the fingers meet the palm and about 5 in. above this there is a line of cracking. From the reverse, these cracks correspond to another set of cracks both vertical and horizontal where the pieces of wood appear to be separating. There is a patch of red on the nail of the index finger and at the back of the base. There is a 1 in. chip to the piece on the reverse of the base. This work appears to be in stable condition.
