Designed as a carved hardstone bird in a cage, applied with pearls and cabochon turquoise, the underside set with a chalcedony seal engraved, Chi sa se mai ti sovverrai d me, fitted case.

Condition

The engraving to the seal on underside, 'Chi sa se mai ti sovverrai d me'. Translates as, 'Who knows if ever you will remember me.' it is from a song called 'La Partenza' written by Pietro Metastasio also known as Piero Trapassi, he was born in Rome in 1698 and died in Vienna in 1792. He became famous for writing melodramatic libretti and songs. There is a hinged door to the cage and drawer underneath. Scratches and indentations consistent with wear. Weighing approximately 13.7 grams. In good condition.
