Condition

Canvas has been impregnated with an adhesive stabilizer but not relined. Surface is slightly dirty with a layer of varnish. A few thin cracks in sky at center of composition and in the street. Under UV light: a masking varnish is somewhat difficult to read through, few spots of inpainting in sky at center of composition, 1.5 in. diagonal crack across the upper right corner has been inpainted in a thin line, a few strokes of inpainting near right edge in upper right quadrant, three nail head size spots of inpainting in the road to the left of the signature, an area of pooling varnish also fluoresces at center of bottom edge. This and other areas of thick varnish, particularly in lower register are very difficult to read through. Work is in fairly good condition.
