Condition

The canvas is not lined. There is a 2.5cm. sq. area of retouching in the figure's upper arm, probably due to a previous repaired tear. There is a 10cm. repaired tear running vertically to the right of the figure, with a 2cm. sq. associated area of retouching towards the upper end. All retouching is visible under UV light. There is a small area of paint loss towards the lower right edge, due to a small 1.5cm. repaired tear and a nailhead-sized spot of paint loss towards the upper centre, due to a 1cm. repaired tear. There is a further nailhead-sized spot of paint loss towards the lower right corner. Apart from some minor spots of paint loss at intermittent intervals, mainly to the lower and right edges, and some light craquelure towards the centre of the canvas, this work is in fair condition. Colours: Fairly accurate, although deeper and stronger in the original, particularly the green and the brown tones.
