Condition

Executed on paper laid down on canvas. There are no signs of retouching visible under UV light. There is a line of flattened creasing running across the centre with a small spot of paper loss to the centre right, and a horizontal line of intermittent paper skinning 2cm. below. There are 3cm. tears to the top left and top right corners, as well as to the centre of the lower edge. There are small punctures and nicks towards the upper right edge and to the centre of the left edge, as well as paper skinning running in a line horizontal to the lower edge above the signature. This work is in fair condition. Colours: overall fairly accurate, although deeper and richer in the original.

Painted circa 1924-30, this painting is from a series titled Les balcons de Paris executed during this period (see: Lafaille op. cit. nos. 1727-1735).
