- A YELLOW GOLD VERGE OPEN-FACED WATCH WITH ENAMEL SCENE CIRCA 1780
- diameter 51.5 mm
* gilt brass full plate verge movement with chain and fusee, cylindrical pillars, pierced and engraved balance bridge, plain gilt-brass three-arm balance, silver regulation disc * white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, outer minute ring, gilt pierced hands * 18k gold case, bezel decorated with blue and white floral-motif, the back panel surrounded by engine-turned frame with engraved star and bauble embellishments, the center with a polychrome painted enamel scene of a young girl in tears with an empty bird cage * pendant stamped FD
Condition
Movement running while cataloguing, however may require service soon. Dial chipped at 2 o'clock. Enamel decoration on bezel heavily restored. Back panel enamel border with some restoration beneath the pendant. Central enamel scene and case back with minor scuffs from wear, but this is common for its age. Overall appears in good condition. Right side of pendant stamped F D.
