Description

  • A rare gold and enamel verge watchcirca 1765
  • diameter 49 mm
• gilt full plate verge movement, pierced and engraved balance bridge, fusee and chain, baluster pillars • white enamel dial, Roman numerals, Arabic outer, winding through dial • case back with polychrome enamel scene of a classical female in a landscape, bezel painted outside and inside with landscape scenes, inside case back painted with church landscape, diamond-set thumb piece 

Condition

Movement not running but does appear to be complete - is fully wound and seized at present and will need a clean and overhaul. Dial in good condition with a very minor and very small chip to the movement lever by 6 o'clock. Hair line cracks visible to the inside of the case back and a light chip to the surface edge of the inside back. Crack visible to the outside back running from the thumb piece. Some scratches and light wear to the painted scene of the outside case back.
