Catalogue Note
Arguably the complications for which Patek Philippe are most admired are those of perpetual calendar, minute repetition and chronograph. These complications were first merged into one watch in the mid 1870s and, to the best of our knowledge, only 250 such pocket watches have since been manufactured. Around half of these pieces were produced as a hunting cased watch rather than open-faced watch. Only a very small number of these complication watches have been identified from either the market, museums or literature and the present watch demonstrates their exceptional quality. A similar hunting cased watch, no.90263 manufactured in 1891 and also in pink gold, was offered for sale at Christie's Geneva, 13th November 2006, lot 258.
