- A yellow gold pair cased repoussé quarter repeating verge watch with pulse piececirca 1745 no 1735
- diameter 53 mm
• gilt brass full plate verge movement signed Jos. Martineau Sen, London, 1735, pierced and engraved balance cock, three-arm balance, fusee and chain, repeating on a bell, signed and numbered dust cap • gilt champlevé dial, Roman numerals, Arabic outer, arcaded minute track, diamonds between the hours • pierced and engraved inner case with maker's mark SG (Stephen Goujon), numbered behind the pendant • fine repoussé outer case depicting Alexander the Great cutting the Gordian knot, signed by Burges, the sides with scrolling pierced and engraved vignettes, pulse piece at 7 o'clock
Condition
The movement is not running, it will strike the hours but not the quarters so will therefore need some attention. Dial worn and tarnished. Repoussé case worn but still retaining good definition to the scene.
