Description
- A yellow gold pair cased quarter repeating repoussé verge watch with pulse piececirca 1750 no 2435
- diameter 50 mm
• gilt brass full plate verge movement signed Robt. Higgs, London 2435, pierced and engraved balance cock, diamond end-stone, three arm balance, fusee and chain, repeating on a bell, signed and numbered dust cap • white enamel dial, Roman numerals, Arabic outer • pierced and engraved inner case with maker's mark SG, numbered behind the pendant • fine repoussé outer case depicting Time Crowning Hope, the sides with scrolling pierced and engraved vignettes, pulse piece at 7 o'clock
Condition
The movement is not running and the chain is loose from the fusee. Enamel dial with fine cracks and a scratch between 5 and 6 o'clock. Dents to the side of the inner pierced case. Repoussé case with signs of wear but still retaining much of its fine detail.
