Catalogue Note

The present lot is part of the "commemorative collection" dedicated to one of Audemars Piguet's founders: Jules-Louis Audemars. A rare model, production was limited to just 20 pieces per year.

In 1875, Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet established their watchmaking company in the Vallée de Joux, in Switzerland. Audemars was in charge of designing the movements while Piguet managed the financial and commercial side of the brand. Despite economic hardships felt by the company, especially in the 1920s and 30s, Audemars Piguet evolved into one of the finest wristwatch manufacturers in the world, producing some of the most refined complications. Today, Audemars Piguet is one of the few remaining family owned watchmakers.
