Condition

The movement is running while cataloguing and calendar appears to advance, however it should be serviced soon as the date does not change exactly at 12 o'clock. The dial has some light spots and scratches, however it has a nice overall appeal. It might have been cleaned at some point in the past, however the signature and printing appear to be original. The case shows general wear and is overall in nice condition. The calendar corrector buttons to the band are lacking. The inscription to the hinged back reads, 'Barney H. York, From C.G.Y., May 1st, 1930'. The underside of the dial is numbered 30996.

Catalogue Note

The present lot is a beautiful example of Audemars Piguet's work in the 1920s. The firm was creating watches in very small quantities at that point, and as such, pieces such as the present are very rare.

Similar pieces are illustrated in Brunner, G., Pfeiffer-Belli, C., & Wehrli, M., Audemars Piguet, pp. 219, 229, 237 and 272.
