* highly jeweled lever movement, bi-metallic compensation balance, Jürgensen patented bow setting, gold cuvette * white enamel dial, subsidiary seconds * polished case, minute repeat activated through a slide in the band with associated pull chain, hinged back * case, dial, cuvette and movement signed
Condition
The movement is not running consistently and will need to be serviced. The repeater is not functioning properly and should not be activated until it has been serviced. The dial is nice and has no hairlines. The case appears to be in nice condition and has some light surface scuffs, but overall very good. The pull-chain to the repeat slide appears to be after-market. The case is numbered 1281 and th cuvette is also engraved 'Patent 1867 January 15'.

Catalogue Note
Jacques Alfred Jürgensen was the son of the great 19th Century watchmaker Jules Jürgensen. When his father died in 1877, he and his brother Jules-Urban took control of the business.
In 1890 he began his own eponymous firm in Le Locle and would go on to win many awards for pocket chronometers and various complicated pieces. In 1897 he closed the firm when he bought back his father's company, Jules Jürgensen, from his sister-in-law.
It is clear from the use of the bow-setting system of the present lot that J. Alfred Jürgensen continued to employ some of the technical developments created by his father.
