  • A RARE GOLD AND ENAMEL MUSICAL WATCH WITH AUTOMATACIRCA 1815 'THE MUSIC LESSON'
  • diameter 57 mm
* cylinder movement, gilt-metal cuvette * small eccentric engine-turned gold dial, surrounded by a polychrome enameled finely appointed salon showing pictures on silk-covered walls, an urn on a white marble pedestal and side cabinet with loss to the edge, applied with vari-color gold scene of two musicians with automated arms playing a guitar and a lyre, with a third figure, a student, writing on tablet, framed by blue silk swags *  the music and automata activated by a button at 10 o'clock in the band * signed on movement surround, case stamped PC and GD

Condition

Lovely enamel scene. The music is working but will require servicing. The watch is not running and is currently fully wound and will also need service. There are small modification to the cylinder escapement, which has been updated. There are restoration and losses to the enamel at 3, 6, 10 and 11 o'clock at the edges and one area of minor restoration to the band. The movement ring is signed Piguet & Capt. The case back has some very small dings.
