Condition

Overall in very good condition. There are approximately 12-15 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. The base is a superb example of the rare "Bird Skeleton" model, displaying an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina. The base is in very good condition, showing minimal gentle wear and rubbing to the patina, with a few very small areas of patina loss to some of the high points of the design. There are a few very small and minor surface abrasions and stress fractures to the open reticulated elements on the legs and standard. With minor surface soiling to some of the recessed contours of the base. The socket cluster, riser, wheel, switches, and finial are all period, and the patinas on these components are all very consistent with the base. The shade leading is particularly fine and well executed, displaying a rich russet brown and green patina. The shade is a highly naturalistic interpretation of the laburnum, with an incredibly well-varied and artistic glass selection. Practically every piece of glass selected for the shade displays subtle variations, which imparts the shade with a tremendous amount of visual depth and movement. The translucent purple and cobalt blue background glass appears very luminescent when seen in person, and the yellow laburnum clusters are well-defined and articulated with vigorously mottled glass. The shade and base present beautifully together as a unit, representing the ideal pairing for this iconic model.
