Circle of Sir Peter Paul Rubens

This painting repeats the composition, with a few minor changes in detail, of a work by Rubens in the National Gallery, Edinburgh.

Panel is cradled. There is a small loss measuring 2 by 1 cm. to the panel at the lower left corner. U.V. light reveals retouching along a vertical split or join that runs from top to bottom just left of center. This split or join has been reinforced on the verso and appears to be stable. U.V. light reveals two other lines of retouching in the upper left corners which may been made to repair a loss. U.V. light also reveals other minor retouches throughout.
