bidding is closed

Description

  • Gottfried Wals, called Goffredo Tedesco
  • Extensive landscape with figures by a forest
  • oil on copper, in a painted oval

Condition

Oil on flat copper plate. Four corners have been gilt, there are minor losses to the gilding most likely due to rubbing from frame. Painting is in overall fresh condition. U.V. light shows small, speckled retouching here and there, in the sky primarily, although the figures and trees have been left primarily untouched. Two more noticeable spots of retouching are visible under U.V. in the sky to the left. The picture is a bit dirty but appears to have retained its original shading, impasto, coloration and subtle paint texture.
