the circular foot chased with fruits and leaves, the square tower engraved with quoins flanking pierced Gothic windows, the square spire with tourelles at the corners, all fitted with shaped pennants

hole to top of base molding and fissure at bottom of trumpet part of base, repaired where hinge joins door, one pennant partly detached, otherwise good condition, good maker

The recent book on Nuremberg goldsmiths by the Germanishes Nationalmuseums (2007) documents numerous pieces of Judaica by this maker, including a Hanukah lamp of 1760-67 (private collection), another of 1777-81 (Steinhardt Collection, New York), a pair of Kiddush beakers of 1773-77 (Cologne, Stadtmuseum), three others in private collections, a Torah shield of 1783-87 (Paris, Musée d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaism), and a Havdalah compendium of 1799-1803 (Smithsonian Institution).
