Condition
One with later lower section, with the fluted bottom and acanthus top and arms of later date with the bobeches and the rectangular section and issued flames dating circa 1780. Both with drill holes, somee now filled. Both lacking unknown elements issuing from sides of rectangular top section, indicated by holes. Both pieces with traces of surface dirt, oxidation and some rubbing, most to flames. In otherwise good overall condition.

A design by Richard de Lalonde for a very similar wall applique (now in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu) is illustrated Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol. I, München, 1986, p. 172, fig. 3.5.4. A set of wall lights of this model but each with three arms and some difference in the decoration of the arms is at Pavlovsk Palace (E. Ducamp, Pavlovsk, Les Collections, Paris 1993, p. 194, fig. 52).
