  • 86 cm; 132 cm; 70 cm

Condition

In unrestored condition. Some age and construction cracks, most to marquetry, principally to top and to sides. Small losses, cracks and lifting to veneer. Some minor losses to bone-inlay on top. Small, two in. loss to molding under brass mount at left corner, only visible from below. Showing signs of old worm. Rubbing, oxidation and surface dirt to brass and mounts. Very little gilding left.

The attribution of this commode mazarine to Thomas Hache (1664-1747) from Grenoble is supported by numerous similar commodes thought to be by this maker (see: P. Rouge, Le génie des Hache, Dijon, 2005, pp. 178-213, in particular no. 77, p. 210).
