Catalogue Note
This model of daybed, where one side could be lowered so as to extend the length, was known as a méridienne à crémaillère. See N. de Reyniès, Mobilier Doestique, vol. 2, Paris, 2003, pp. 1164-1165 for other known examples of this form and examples illustrated in contemporary furnishing publications.
