each painted by Maria Wildman, signed and dated, with various landscape scenes, titled on the reverse, beneath the crest of Wildman on the rim, topographical inscriptions, dates and 'Maria Wildman pinxt' painted in brown.

Two plates each have patches of pinhead flaking to the enamels in the center, one of which also has a 3/4-in. area of rubbing to the inner gilt line border above the cavetto. Four plates each have similar flaking but to a lesser degree. One plate has a nearly 3-in. area of rubbing in the cavetto and another has a small rubbed spot in the cavetto a pinhead flake. Otherwise all are in generally good condition.

The crest is that of the Wildman family of Chilham Castle, Kent and Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire.

Four additional plates from this series, including a pair with views of Chilham Castle were sold at Sotheby's, London, December 12, 1967, lots 164 and 166; six with views of England and France were sold at Christie's East, New York, June 5, 1984, lot 187; and a pair, one with a view of the Horse Guards in London, the other with the troops at Waterloo, were sold in these rooms, October 9, 1990, lot 430.
