Description

(vase Duplessis à fleurs) reserved on either side with a gilt-edged cartouche painted with the figure of a child and molded with a border of shells around the foot, mounted on a later ormolu base, interlaced L's, date letter D for 1756/7 and painter's mark for probably Philippe Xhrouuet in blue enamel.
Condition
The vase has been drilled for mounting. There is a minor shallow 1/4-in. chip to the rim, considerable wear to the gilt dentil border and some further minor occasional rubbing to the gilt borders of the cartouches and to the edge of the foot where it rests in the mount. There is a minor 1 1/4-in. firing-related haircrack to the foot, visible on the underside. The vase has been broken through the stem and restored back, the break concealed by an added gilt foliate vine.
