Condition
Very good condition overall with minor wear to the patina consistent with age, some surface dust and oxidation in the crevices.
A few irregularities of the fine light brown patina in his face. The overall height includes the black marble which can not be seen on the photograph. Very decorative and attractive bronze.

Jean-François Denière (1774-1866) tenait un grand atelier de bronziers, spécialisés dans les bronzes d'ameublement, les pendules et les décorations de table. Fondé avec François-Thimothée Matelin, avec lequel il travailla de 1797 à 1820, l'atelier était renommé pour la précision de ces fontes, la fine ciselure des bronzes, ainsi que la qualité de la dorure. On compte parmi les clients de la manufacture le Roi Louis Philippe, la duchesse du Berry et le duc de Bordeaux,.
