Catalogue Note

A mantel clock with a movement by Jean-Nicolas Schmit which incorporated a biscuit porcelain putto above cloud bands and with pink and grisaille-decorated plaques around the base, was sold, Christie's, London, July 5, 2001, lot 163.  The central plaque was inscribed Mr de Guerhard et Dihl à Paris.
