Condition
The candle branches drilled for electricity. Some rubbing to the gilding, particularly to the candle branches. Some rubbing to patination. Minor losses to one part of foliage flanked by the winged lions. Minor scratches consistent with age. One figure slightly loose.

Catalogue Note
Two pairs of candelabra of this model were delivered by Galle on 15 September 1807 for the Empress' Salon at Fontainebleau: "deux paires à figures bronzées sur colonne et socle triangulaire portant 8 lumières à 2.000, 4.000" (mémoire of 23 March 1808). Price reduced to 3.800 (J.P. Samoyault, Pendules et bronzes d'ameublement entrés sous le Premier Empire, Paris 1989, p. 157, n. 134).
