Description
- comprising: twelve cups, twelve teaspoons, a covered sugar bowl, a pair of sugar tongs and a teapot
- Haut. du sucrier 24 cm ; 9 1/2 in high
Condition
In overall good condition. One shell missing on a spoon. The sugar tong extremity to be refixed. A very old repair, probably original on the sugar bowl cover.
Marks mainly on teapot and sugar vase mounts, "crabe"mark (French guarantee mark for small objetct) on each cup, spoon and sugar tongs mounts .
The shells used for this unique tea set are probably "casques gueules de taureau" (Cypraecassis rufa) and "cônes textiles" (Conus textile), all from Indo-Pacific area.
Extremely unusual set.
