- Tabatière en laque du Japon montée en vermeil par Alexandre Leferre, Paris, vers 1840
Alexandre Leferre, travailla à la fois pour lui-même depuis 1837 et en association avec son frère Jean-Louis sous le nom Leferre Frères, rue St Martin. Il fut un fabricant de boîtes extrêmement prolifique. Il semble avoir excellé dans l'art de travailler des boîtes ou panneaux plus anciens avec des montures en or ou argent, comme c'est le cas ici.
