Description

  • Rare tabatière 'Montgolfière' en or de trois tons par Nicolas Marguerit, Paris, 1783
  • Ce sont Jacques Alexandre César Charles (1746-1823) et les frères Robert qui ont inventé et dessiné le premier ballon à hydrogène. Le premier vol sans équipage eut lieu le 27 août 1783 (peu après le vol en ballon à air chaud des frères Montgolfier en Juin), et effectua 12 "miles" entre Paris et Gonesse alors que les paysans effrayés l'attaquèrent de leurs fourches.

Condition

A substantial box in generally good condition with only minor wear. There are two nicks to the edge of the lid, visible in the catalogue photo. Shallow dent to left side. Some light surface scratches.
