  • Rare carnet en écaille, émail et nacre par Louis Mailly, Paris, 1722-1727
  • Mailly fut l'un des cinq maîtres reçu en 1723 "l'ordonnance de 80.000 livres". Il insculpa son poinçon, LM un maillet, tenant enseigne Place Dauphine en janvier 1723, ainsi qu'un petit poinçon pour l'or le 12 février. Il semble être décédé en 1739.

    Vue leur fragilité, très peu d'aide-mémoires ou carnets de cette époque sont parvenus jusqu'à nous.

Condition

Generally good condition. There are enamel losses, visible in the catalogue photos. One side with crimping to gold frame and tiny losses at two corners. The interior silk lining and plaited borders with some staining; in places this is visible from the outside under the tortoiseshell. The gold piqué and tortoiseshell in remarkably good condition, the goldwork of excellent quality. The stylus appears original and is struck with Cordier discharge mark.
