MALBY & SON / GLOBE & MAP SELLERS TO THE ADMIRALTY / NEILL BROTHERS, AGANTS, / OPTICIANS &c. HIGH STREET, BELFAST. / Jany. 1st. 1856.

Condition

The globe in restored condition; the globe appears to have been cleaned with slightly adverse effect to the surface with has lost it's original lacquer or finish in places and now with a slightly abrasive surface; two inpainted stable cracks approximately 1 inch long to the North Pole within the hour ring; small lossess to the surface of the gores around the upper part of Baffin Bay, to the province of Quebec, north of Newfoundland, around the coast of Alaska; losses above Panama with some inpainting ; inpainted crack with some losses to the central part of Brazil; losses to the paper of the gores north of the equator line in the Pacific Ocean; spotty losses to the original finish ad paper of the gores around the South-East Asian islands and off the coast of China; small losses around the equator line in the Indian Ocean; small dotted losses throughout the upper part of Russia into parts of Scandinavia; loss off the coast of Spain in the Atlantic ocean; small losses around the south eastern coast of Africa; large circular scratch to the souther hemisphere just above the Antarctic circle; the South Pole with three 1-inch age cracks with some inpainting; one small hole near South pole approximately 1/4 inch by 1/8 inch. The stand with wear to the horizon ring with a triangular loss approximately 1 1/2 inch by 1 inch to the LEO section; small infilled loss around one notch for the globe; the same notch with two small wood blocks to the underside probably filling in losses; small 1/8 inch square inpainted loss to the GEMINI section; two repaired breaks to the horizon ring with a chip to the underside at one break and with subsequent small losses to the paper around the break; possibly originally fitted with casters. The stand with a later finish and with the usual old scratches and scuffs.
