Condition
Overall good restored condition; the leaf associated; later metal clip holders and pivoting wood supports; later tongues and slots for leaf to the back edges of the two ends;
The first end with very minor warpage to solid mahogany top and with a small infilled bruise towards the back edge; the veneered frieze with age cracks over lines of construction of back legs now with infilling and fillets; two small patches to the edge of the left canted corner; small infilled loss and a small patch to the edge of the right canted corner; the frieze with age cracks; the back frieze veneered and with vertical age cracks particularly over the joins of back legs with back rail now with minor tears and infilling; small inpainted chip to veneer; the front legs with replaced scrolls; the back right leg with one replaced scroll; some chips losses and infilling to replaced scrolls.
The second end with very minor warpage to the solid mahogany top and with a thin age crack approximately 20 inches in length running along the back edge from the right side edge; the front frieze with four small patches to the veneers and with some vertical age cracks; age cracks over the joins of the back legs with the frieze; the back frieze veneered and with three small patches with some inpainting and with a replaced section to the veneer approximately 4 ½ inches by 3 ¼ inches; scrolls to front legs replaced; one scroll to back right leg replaced; back legs each with a large chip to the back scroll; some chips losses and infilling to replaced scrolls.
The solid mahogany leaf with slight warpage and with some old scratches and marks; the leaf associated and with some infilled holes to one edge, probably originally a leaf for another dining table.

Catalogue Note
The flat carving of the foliage and the long scrolls to the tops of the legs as well as the muscled legs continuing to the claw-and-ball feet are characteristic of Irish furniture.
