Description

  • Gustav Stickley
  • A Rare Bookcase
  • oak and glass

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces appear to retain their original finish, displaying rich color. The wood surfaces throughout with occasional surface scratches, abrasions and edge losses consistent with age and gentle use. The top gallery shelf with a few minor scattered surface stains, including a small circular dark stain approximately 1 inch in diameter to the proper right rear corner. The sides of the case are comprised of two boards, and there is a small separation gap between the boards due to the natural contraction and expansion of the case over time. The wrought-iron escutcheon plates with light surface wear and rubbing. With three adjustable shelves, and with period key which is likely original to the piece. This rare bookcase is the only known example to date of this early uncatalogued Stickley form.
