This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. There are minor dents along the edges and on the base. There are light traces of oxidation.

"Per onorare Ettore Sottsass che aveva disegnato per la Olivetti, verso la fine degli anni Cinquanta, il primo calcolatore elettronico italiano, Adriano Olivetti mi chiese di trovargli, al volo, uno scultore, ovviamente italiano, perché quel calcolatore sarebbe stato guardato negli occhi dal Presidente della Repubblica Italiana, Giovanni Gronchi. ... Grande occasione. Mi sembrava inevitabile offrire al presidente Gronchi, come gesto, un oggetto che richiamasse l'impresa di quei calcoli. Decisi di affidare l'impresa al giovane Arnaldo Pomodoro, il quale inventò una piccola scultura d'argento, inserita in una cornice di ottone, che si chiamava 'Le pietre del Matematico'".
