"La sorpresa è che Albert ha inventato la bellezza che sta nella sua testa, una bellezza nuova, dalle pareti e dalle forme quasi antiche. (...) Guardando le donne del nostro Hermann, quei monumenti della pittura che sono le sue ragazze, mi sono affezionato alla parola 'Madornale': ma sembrandomi che 'Madornale' fosse troppo poco, ho aggiunto che poteva trattarsi di 'Madonne Madornali'. Che, secondo me, sono uno dei suoi marchi di fabbrica. Madornali, perché ampie, interi colonnati femminili..."
