Colour slightly darker overall and more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Some very minor restorations to the veneer. Escutcheons later. Some later runners beneath the drawers to ease movement. Lovely rare small size. In overall good conserved condition.

L. Caumont-Caimi, L'Ebanisteria Genovese del Settecento, Parma, 1995, illustrates various examples of Genovese bureau plat conceived in a similar vein, no's, 42, 62, 66, 98 and 136.

Genoese bureaux plats, commonly called `diplomatiche' , imitate very closely Louis XV models. Its Genoese origin is confirmed also by its distinctive carcass made of pine and drawers made of poplar.
