Description

  • 42.5cm. high including base
11.5-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals bearing the signature LeRoy A Paris, fine foliate pierced and engraved gilt hands, flat bottomed movement with Brocot escapement and rare countwheel quarter striking and pull wind repeat on two bells, finely ormolu drum case surmounted by hunting trophies with an oak tree, flanked by two patinated cherubs, moulded break front base adorned with rosettes and a guirlande in front of a guilloche band, raised on turned feet, on break front ebonized base with applied ormolu scoped panels

Condition

replaced dial custom made for this clock probably in the mid 19th Century, large chip near left winding hole, small chip near right winding hole, chip near 10, minute hand possibly replaced but fairly well made, movement converted from anchor to Brocot escapement and from silk suspended pendulum to steel spring suspension (also probably in the second half of the 19th Century), able to function but needs to be cleaned, pull wind hammer return-springs need to be adjusted but will function then, case in good condition, the gilding in good condition with minute rubbing, cherubs repatinated and possibly varnished, base of later date with old mounts, together with a base, pendulum and a winder
