each ovoid body brightly painted with a large oval portrait medallion, reserved against a dark blue and gold ornamented ground, the reverse with large flower bouquet, applied with bearded mask handles, on high circular foot
Condition
In overall good condition with some minor wear to the gilding and minor surface scratching. Few minor retouches to the gilt painted handles, one handle with (probably original) minor imperfection / firing glaw. Probably wanting covers.

Catalogue Note
Leopold I (1790-1865) was proclaimed first King of the Belgians on 21 July 1831, after the independance from the Netherlands. He was the founder of the Belgian line of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. His children included Leopold II of Belgium and Empress Carlota of Mexico. After the early death of his first wife Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales he married Louise-Marie of France.
