Description

  • QAK monogram in underglaze blue
  • 59cm. high.
each of ovoid form with flared neck, applied with elaborate scroll and foliate handles, painted with cloud-shaped cartouche depicting an amorous couple in arcadian landscape, the reverse with waterlandscape and sailing boats, reserved against a floral and ornamental ground, the neck with coat-of-arms, probably of a member of the Clouck family of Leiden and his wife, raised on domed circular foot and square concave sided base

Condition

In overall good condition with some minor frits / (glaze) chips, especially to rims and handles / raised parts of the decoration, few small retouches. Minor surface scratching and craquelé to the glaze. One vase with one of the two-part handles restored and partly overpainted. Small piece of scroll ornament to other handle missing.
