Description

  • with faux Nuremberg marks at the reverse base
  • 23cm. high.
the ivory carved sleeve depicting a bacchic scene, the silver mounts 19th century, the cover surmounted by Minerva or Athena

Condition

The silver with the usual rubbing, marks and scratches due to use and age, traces of cleaning, Minerva/Athena with some dirt/wear to her feet, the ivory sleeve with two vertical cracks running own from the upper rim (circa 3 and 5 cm. long), greenish dirt to base of ivory due to reaction with silver foot, ivory nicely carved. Silver footmount loose.
