A rare Directoire ormolu sculptural mantel clock, Vaillant French, early 19th Century

9-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Vaillant à Paris, gilt Breguet hands, flat bottomed countwheel bell striking anchor movement with silk suspended pendulum, ormolu heart-shaped bezel, between columns surmounted by Cupid gambling with burning hearts, shaped octagonal base with griffins to the sides, a drape to the front inscribed DIT LE PASSÉ ET L'AVENIR  

Refinished dial slightly discoloured, could be improved. Hands fine. Movement in good condition and able to function. Case with quality gilding in good condition. Together with a pendulum.
