Description
- Abraham van Beijeren
- A kitchen still life with carrots, a cabbage and turnip radishes, with a copper pot, dead poultry and a leg of ham suspended from a hook, together with a cat stealing a string of sausages
oil on canvas
- 72.4 by 97.2 cm.
Condition
The actual painting is warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has an old somewhat firm relining. The paint surface appears to be in reasonable condition, although has grown a little thin in the darker areas. No major damages are apparent. A few scattered retouchings can be observed in the background upper centre. The paint surface is under a very dirty layer of varnish. Inspection under UV light is completely impeded by the dirty varnish layer.
Offered in an ebonised brown wood frame with a few tiny damages.
